Wealth Consciousness Can You Answer These 4 Questions

Wealth Consciousness

In my opinion wealth consciousness is a path. An eventual enlightenment where you’re no longer owned by that which you desire to possess. (Worldly goods)

The wealth that I used to think was so important outside of myself, wasn’t. It’s an external extension of my ego which is always going to desire more.

So how then are you motivated to achieve & move forward in an authentic fashion and still be profitable?

I believe it goes deeper than just “I want more.”

  • Why do you want more?
  • What exactly is more anyway?
  • More of what will sustain you & fulfill you?
  • How will you know you got it and what will it feel like?

Powerful questions that if gone unanswered, may keep you in a position of lack, want and confusion. I’ll ask you about this later.

How-To’s Are Not Enough

There is a book I reference all the time called “If How-To’s We’re Enough, We Would All Be Skinny Rich & Happy” by Brian Klemmer. Great read that I recommend to anyone looking to understand the psychology beneath our unconscious wants. (i.e. Ego)

Nine years ago when I knew why I wanted a new lifestyle, the details surrounding the how-to’s weren’t as important to me as just out right taking action. Any action. I just wanted to make a massive change.

I looked up one day and what I was doing no longer had a deeper meaning. The money I was making no longer was the result of serving others and certainly wasn’t fulfilling. It was good money but the writing was on the wall. I dreaded Monday mornings.

Depending on your personality type you’ll approach this differently I’m sure. For me, being big picture & results motivated, it was about action & change. The pain was finally too great and I knew I desired a different lifestyle.

I was running from a lifestyle of 70 hours a week and running to a lifestyle of freedom. Which one was more powerful? Running away of course was in the beginning I admit.

What does it take for you to take action towards your desired outcome? Running from or to?

If it takes someone challenging you to take action then that’s great to get the home fire’s burning but then what? After you’ve accomplished the challenge? What about when the fire is out, what will you run from then? Make no doubt when someone challenges you you’re ego interprets it as challenging it’s worth. It’s life.

Your ego will immediately rush to accomplish the task in order to protect the ego from embarrassment or it’s death. It’s short term motivation and unhealthy in my opinion (I’ve done it a LOT in my life) but can serve a means to an end as long as you’re aware of it.

Resources And Resourcefulness

Here is something to wrap your brain around.

When I finally made the switch to start my home based business 9 years ago, I didn’t have the extra $429.00 to start it.

I was making good money but was just as broke as anyone else but on a different level. As one of my mentors says, there are lots of people who look good, smell good and sound good but are still broke. That was me.

It was at this point that I knew there was nothing standing in the way of my freedom. I felt like a trapped rat and I was going to do whatever it ethically took in order to get out.

The resources are all around us at any point and time. You must embrace this fact. It’s only your ability to open your mind and release yourself from it’s prison to see these resources. Whether they be. Mental resources, emotional resources, physical relationships…whatever.

I actually looked around for where extra cash could be created with out borrowing and here is what I came up with.

  1. I drove a Lexus SC300 at the time and the payments on it were $249.00 a month. My wife at the time realized we could defer the payment legitimately to the end of the loan one time only. So we did.
  2. We then had a yard sale to come up with the other $180.00.

The rest is history where had we (I give my ex-wife much of the financial creativity credit) not became resourceful the resources would have never been found. This was the evolving of a wealth consciousness.

Today I run to not from. This has been a learning process for me and I hope it brings a consciousness to your situation if needed.

But My Situation Is Different

No, it isn’t. The context of which you view your situation is different, but not your situation. Don’t be one of the mentally lazy in the U.S.

There are children in 3rd world countries that want to know how to read but have to wonder where their next meal is coming from. However a small percentage of those children do find their way to become doctors & lawyers against what some consider unbeatable odds.

How is that possible?

What’s different about these children and their situation is their attitude, their environment and their resourcefulness.

Like Jim Rohn says in his Take Charge of Your Life series:

How long would you give your child to pass the 4th grade?

It goes with out saying we’d give them a year. However…

The challenge I feel is this. After many people graduate high school or a college, they stop learning at a reasonable rate and pushing themselves. (Outside of their job’s minimum requirements that is)

Much of the population aren’t motivated by external factors anymore that were set forth for them by teachers & their curriculum’s.

Quite frankly based on the results they aren’t motivated by much. Two years ago Nido Quben stated that immigrants to the U.S. were 4x’s more likely to become millionaires.

Nido says the reason is:

From their heart, from their soul, from their being and from their beliefs drives all that they are and all they can therefor can become.

Somewhere along the way they get lost, mentally bought into doing something even if they didn’t like it, like getting a job where they aren’t happy but the pay is good.

What’s different about your situation is your beliefs, your attitude surrounding those beliefs, your environment that supports those beliefs and your resourcefulness to implement your beliefs and sustain them.  The good news is you have control over all four starting today.

Are you learning at a reasonable rate?

One of my very good friends always asks, “what’s your personal development plan?”

What are you reading, listening to and hanging around?

What’s Your Motivation

Wealth consciousness isn’t just money. The money is a result of providing value. In my opinion fulfillment doesn’t come only from the cash (It helps in creating new & fulfilling experiences I agree)

So I have to ask these 4 questions again.

I’m curious:

  • Why do you want more?
  • What exactly does more mean to you anyway?
  • More of what will sustain you & fulfill you?
  • How will you know you got it and what will it feel like?

Contribute your feedback, I’d like to get a different perspective on these questions.

How Are You Moving Your Life Forward

Moving Your Life Forward to Bring About A Desired Lifestyle

My good friend Matt Geib ask an in depth question to our last post, “3 Steps To Longer Lasting Decisions.” I started to answer it in the comments section however…

“How does one move their life forward to bring about Their desired and Abundant & Fulfilling Lifestyle?”

I went to reply to his comment in the comments section but soon found myself writing something that was far more than just a simple reply. It required it’s own zip code by the time I found myself finished so I’ve dedicated this post to Matt’s question.

Fulfillment Through Experience

As far as the question it’s one I’ve been asking of myself for the past few months so it may not be complete and I will love your feedback. So I will answer it through my own experiences as of late.

I have my hands in so many projects right now of which only 1 or 2 am I finding I’m truly passionate about. First things first before you move forward you have to identify you have a purpose for moving forward and a vehicle in order to deliver that purpose.

If you don’t have either one of those I believe it’s a process of finding those out first. That process has always consisted of  me stepping outside of my normal day to day actions & habits. To find what may be my calling I feel I must delve into other actions outside of my day to day norms. Be around others I’ve not normally been & have experiences I’ve never had.

For example I replaced my traditional self employed office job 9 years ago with a home based business. I started that business part time while I was working my traditional office business. After almost 2 years I walked away from the “job.” However I had to:

  1. Step outside of my normal actions
  2. Be around people I wasn’t normally around.
  3. Changed my environment even if it was just a little bit at first.

I become passionate about the services I was marketing way before I ever started marketing them. I believed in the services because they gave me a desired result & emotional experience I’d never been able to experience before.

I found what was fulfilling in that moment (serving others) as well as providing a very real need in the market place. All while the results financially were taking me somewhere I wanted to go. A freedom based life style.

The biggest secret to moving forward is changing your environment. Who you hang out with, where you hang out. What you see, hear and watch is so critical. Just getting a glimpse of the type of environment that serves your end result can be the catalyst to moving you forward out of your current lifestyle. You’ll find yourself taking daily & consistent action because the new environment makes you feel good.

The abundance & lifestyle is a result in my opinion not a destination or a focus. When it becomes the total focus this is your ego taking over.  You’ll never find yourself fulfilled by your efforts because you’ll be focused on getting more rather than being more.

The Cycle Repeats As We Grow

I’ve grown as a person over the past few years and as I still do love the vehicle I’m driving but yes I am growing. (And it does provide me a great freedom based lifestyle) I didn’t have to create the vehicle because it was already there and had been put together by others.

I’m now able to replicate that same process as before however. Now for the past few years my passion has gone online and expressing myself, my lesson’s and my experiences through this blog. I’ve also been able to gain a lot of knowledge about marketing, social media and creating a business from scratch.

I’ve found my message and experiences resonate with so many people that now I feel my next calling is providing insight not only mentally but emotionally through actionable steps in order to break through to finding our purpose as well as creating businesses that reflect that.

I’m now doing several online marketing projects for other clients and again have stepped outside my traditional norm, and also putting myself around others I didn’t before. (And doing it all part time mind you) I’m gaining insight and the how to’s by simply doing it.

You see through my process I’m finding my passion and my calling. I’m not saying it has to take you 9 years, 5 years or even 12 months. You only have to make the decision to be open to that change and there for be the change you’re seeking in the world. It’s an often used quote but true.

No Excuse Zone

Listen, lack of financial funds, no prior knowledge of doing something or I don’t know how isn’t really an excuse to me these days because 9 years ago I made the decision to not let any of it stop me. It’s not our resources but our resourcefulness that makes all the difference. Hard times just requires outside of the box thinking.

Build something part time while you’re taking care of your immediate financial needs with a job. It’s that simple but does require discipline.

I feel Eckhart hits it on the head with living in fulfillment. “Our ego will always trick us into thinking we must be do or have more.”

What you want and what is a result is usually a blurred line for many of us. Don’t be fooled by the ego.

Yes vision boards are good, goal‘s are good and seeing what you desire is good. However those should only serve as reminders of the main objective, “What can I do to serve?” Whatever that action is, it is what will create the financial results that provides you all of that stuff.

One of the most powerful exercises for me was writing out “my perfect day.” That day only consisted of the types of experiences I desired in my life not so much the stuff my ego wanted.

Actionable Steps

I suggest putting your focus now on solving a problem for a group or niche and sharing with them the end result as an emotional experience. People will line up to pay you money for that result & emotional experience if they know they are really going to get it.

  1. You can do this by either positioning yourself with a home based business that you identify with as far as values & mission
  2. Start marketing online through affiliate marketing
  3. Start your own online business marketing information products

Admittedly I’ve done the first two and neither is as easy as people will attempt to make it seem. However I feel I’ve had modest success in both. I’m now in stage 3 of creating my own information products. Although the first two were not easy they have both helped me create the foundation of building a business and with very very little out of pocket cash.

My network marketing business has taught me more in the last 9 years about marketing, people, business philosophy, influence & personal development than any college could have. (Just my opinion) It also now allows me to focus some of my efforts on other area’s that I’m finding myself extremely passionate about.

So How Do You Move Forward

The answer to your question Matt isn’t always a clear path and I’m sure this isn’t the best answer in the world. However moving forward sometimes requires not knowing where the next step will lead you. You just need to take it anyway. If you don’t have a vehicle to move you forward, find one.

You have to be happy, excited & passionate about your life work. Because of that you’re actually being rather than just doing. That is fulfillment in my eyes. The money is a result and you know what? You probably will have to do all of this part time. Cut out the TV, cut out the Thursday night bowling or guys night out or whatever is sucking up your extra time.

I haven’t had TV or Cable for going on 3 years now. That’s how I’ve started figuring out this online thing. I did a pretty in depth post on 5 ways to create cash online and it actually does talk to you about finding markets and what to do.

You can do what is called “boot strapping” your business until you’re able to put your profits back into your business in order to grow it. My online efforts I’ve spent very very little money. Financial and Business Education is probably the biggest expense I’ve had.

But that’s a whole other story and maybe another blog post if you care to know about it. ;-)

How are you moving forward right now?

What insight can you give Matt?

Is This Why People Struggle With Finding Fulfilling Work

I know this subject may not be terribly cool to talk about but in order to bring it out of the dark we must shed our light on the topic.

Do you tell yourself there are so many excuses as to why you can’t make a living with your passion as apposed to why you can? Let me mention why I ask the question…

While reading last night I came across this amazing passage in Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth that I believe beautifully illustrates what happens with so many of us when we find ourselves not fulfilled in our work:

“I have also met many others who may be technically good at what they do but who’s ego constantly sabotages their work. Only part of their attention is on themselves. Their ego demands personal recognition and wastes energy in resentment if it doesn’t get enough – and it’s never enough. “Is someone else getting more recognition than me?” Or their main focus of attention is profit or power and their work is no more than a means to that end.

When work is no more than a means to an end, it cannot be of high quality. When obstacles or difficulties arise in their work, when things don’t go according to expectation, when other people or circumstances are not helpful or cooperative, instead of immediately becoming one with the new situation and responding to the requirements of the present moment, they react against the situation and so separate themselves from it. There is a “me” that feels personally offended or resentful, and a huge amount of energy is burned up in useless protest or anger, energy that could be used for solving the situation if it were not being misused by the ego. What is more, this “anti”-energy creates new obstacles & new opposition. Many people are truly their own worst enemy.

Cooperation is alien to the ego, except when there is a secondary motive.”

Is Your Work Fulfilling

  1. Do you feel you’re living your purpose through your work or is what you do currently fulfilling and why?
  2. How did you find it?
  3. How do you know it is what you’re meant to do?
  4. When did you know?
  5. Did you over come the excuse of the current economy and kick out the crutch?
  6. Why & How? Ok this is really 2 questions :-)

If you have answers to these questions, I for one would love to hear them. There are so many people that are searching for these answers right. I have a few answers however I’m asking for your input.

My Blogging Experiences Exposed

3d puppet with a pen. Object over white

Blogging Business and Me

So I’ve been such a busy little bee this past year and I can’t tell you how much of a nerd I have become. (Just really educated)

When it comes to WordPress, Social Media and Local Business It’s been quite the wild ride and I’ve loved it.  However I want to tie this into the context of this blogs message which is human engagement via Tony Teegarden.

Self Exploration Optimization is the term I coined (Human SEO) when I thought about the technical quality as well as the organic quality that makes up social media. I know this touches on the surface level of social media to say it’s just about building relationships. However this is the starting point that requires the most awareness & education before you open your social media mouth. :-)

There’s a lot to social media that I don’t claim to be an expert on, such as ROI, tracking etc. Although I do my fair amount of studying and implementing both. By the way I do NOT claim to be a social media Expert. It’s a topic that is both organic as well as technical to me and it relates to people skills and development on so many levels. Hence my few posts like social media equaling social skills.

Blogging has taught me a lot about human dynamics and attraction as well as social media.

My Blogging Beginnings

My blogging beginning started nearly 5 years ago because a good friend of mine suggested I would be good at it.

I thought he was nuts and almost didn’t do it because I couldn’t imagine people would want to read what I had to say. (He was right though)

Because of taking the risk of blogging I was able to find myself new friends, new business relationships and it even allowed me to  be featured in Joe Vitale’s New York Times best seller Expect Miracles book. All because I took the risk of doing something outside of my comfort zone.

I started out on the Typepad platform for my blogging beginnings. It wasn’t a bad platform at all although later on before I switched to a free standing WordPress blog Typepad was dragging really really bad and I got annoyed any time I went to do a blog post.

The real problem was I didn’t own the Typepad base and there for it wasn’t very customizable, I didn’t have much creative control and quite frankly I didn’t own it. I wanted to own the content and have the creative control. I just wasn’t nuts about putting all of that hard work into a site that could disappear over night. (Type A personality maybe?) It’s like buying the house but renting the land it sits on.

So I blogged on Typepad for a few years and eventually made the jump to free standing WordPress. (Not to be confused with WordPress.com) I educated myself to the point of just jumping in and doing it. Of course I was a bit worried considering I didn’t even know how to spell computer a few years ago. However I did it and I’ve been pleased every since with my progress.

My first wordpress blog project was New Way Of Wealth. I still have plans of putting out a product based on the concepts there but right now I’m not doing anything else with it. There is lots of good content there that I may do something with soon.

I’ve since helped a few people put together WordPress Blogs for personal and business use and so far it’s been good stuff for all involved. Most recently I’ve done JuliaGorzka.com. She’s a community builder & social media strategist. I decided to use the Headway Theme on her WordPress blog and it’s an absolute dream of a WP theme.

I was a bit nervous about helping others put their blogs together but now based on trial and error I’ve gotten pretty good at it. Trial and error on MY blogs not theirs :-)

Blogging Local Business and My Evolution

Now because I’ve taken the time to figure out all of this blogging business, I’ve been approached by so many people in my local market about blogging that it’s been scary. Not to mention the amount of emails I get from people wanting me to share with them my WP experience. From as far away as Israel & Australia! It’s scary only because I’ve found that teaching people how to set up a blog one on one is not scalable to me nor has it really been in my interest. (It’s scalable if you want to make a business out of it I’m sure but that’s not where my heart is)

I’ve passed up tons of opportunities to consult or set up blogs for people and businesses and quite frankly I was ok with it. I set up a few for people I’m close to but never really charged what I know I could. Check out this unsolicited testimonial.

In my opinion local businesses in the coming 36 months are going to rely heavily on social media, local search marketing (Google Local) and other means of more inexpensive or free advertising mediums. My personal opinion (And the opinion of several millionaires I speak with) is that the next 36 months will be some of the most financially challenging times we’ve ever seen and local communities will come together because of it.

Tie in social media and you have a perfect medium of expanding your local market exposure and by passing traditional advertising mediums.

Now I’m not jumping off into the deep end and screaming the economy is going to hell in a hand basket.(Ok maybe I am) but there is going to be more opportunity and more millions made in the next 36 months for the few people who pay attention than ever before in our life time.

So knowing that local community is going to get tighter and more connected through social media doesn’t it make sense that if you’re a business owner you have a professional hub that’s interactive? A place to call home where customers can come to get to know you? And no not a Blogger blog please. (No offense)

Newbies, Businesses, Social Media and WordPress

My point is if you’re someone who is investigating blogging for local or or even global reasons you must investigate the right platform to blog from. If someone would have stressed to me how important it was for me to start out with a free standing Blog and the benefits of it I would have saved myself a lot of time and energy today.

However it happened how it happened and there’s no looking back. Learn from my mistake. :-)

Blogs are not going away any time soon and with the integration of social media into a WordPress blog they become wonderful hubs of excitement. I.E Communities!

My blog platform of choice is WordPress and will be for some time unless someone comes out with something better, more flexible and has the capability of so many different plugins to customize your user experience. Oh and most all of it is free.

Not to mention it’s easy integration of social media like Twitter, Youtube Flickr & Facebook. Just take a look at this blog itself. (Although I prefer to use Vimeo for embedded video on this blog)

WordPress is a fantastic community and I love it. (Google loves it too)

So why all of this talk of blogging?

Because I’ve scoured the internet for some of the best information on setting up a WordPress blog I could find. I’ve put it all together for you in order to better assist you in creating you very first professional blog if you so desire.

I didn’t really want to do this however based on my experience so far and the fact that so many people keep asking me for it, I’m putting it together. Yup, I’ve taken care of all of the heavy lifting for you. It’s actually screen capture video shot by someone else which keeps this scalable for me and easy to update for you. (WordPress updates often)

It’s called Blog Action Class and in it you will find videos and more on:

  • How to buy a domain name
  • How to set up your first hosting account for your WordPress blog
  • How to set up a free standing WordPress blog
  • How to optimize it for your niche via keywords
  • How to create a list of fans and how to email them at the touch of a button
  • How to drive traffic to your blog via link building
  • And a lot more…

All in all there are 6 modules chock full of almost 40 videos and video transcriptions all for you easy consumption.

Blog Action Class is not my main focus at all, but I figured I’d share my personal experience of blogging in this post and the growth that has come from approaching it head on, even though I had no idea what I was doing most of the time. ;-)

Blog action class will be an inexpensive option for many newbie bloggers as well as businesses to plug into in order to get their very own blog off the ground and into the game.

So far I’ve only let a few of my close friends inside the site in order to give me feedback and for them to use it for their own educational uses since I’m so busy. If you have any interest in Blog Action Class shoot me an email and I’ll hurry it up in order to get it “public ready.”

3 Steps To Longer Lasting Decisions

An attractive girl deciding between sweets and...

How To Make More Definite Decisions

How many times have you looked up and asked yourself, “If I knew then what I knew now my life would be completely different today.

I believe we all could probably say this to ourselves but why live in regret even just a little?

I heard it best said from my life coach, “look at your life today and that’s what you’re committed to.” Even if you say you desire more money, or to connect with your soul mate, or to create a better relationship with your spouse, all you have to do is look at your results today and that is what you’re committed to.

I heard some insights yesterday what I believe will assist me in staying on track with decisions I make today much more than ever before and I wanted to share them with you.

The Power of Priorities

One reason I’ve found I didn’t hit targets in my personal, spiritual or business life is that I hadn’t set priorities. Everything else tends to get in the way of your desired experiences or outcomes when you haven’t set something as a priority.

Such as:

  • meditation
  • morning exercise
  • eating right
  • building a business

Example 1: A person says they desire a home based business that will provide them the freedom from their 9 to 5 job. However every day they allow something to get into the way of taking action and building that business. Whether it’s attending trainings or doing the daily disciplines that lead to their desired results things always get in the way.

Example 2: You decide you want to become more healthy by eating right and exercising however you find yourself surrounded by bad food choices, going to bed late, therefor waking up late and not exercising. This effects you meditating first thing in the morning so it also affects your spiritual life.

A priority could be considered your primary choice. However there is a secondary choice that supports your primary choice.

The Power of Choice

Achieving consciousness based on outcome is a hard way to live. It’s a good way to learn though. I know because I’ve done it so much in the past and still continue to dance with that shadow today. I say dance because I’m much more aware of it today than I was yesterday.

The choices we make today impacts our lifestyle of tomorrow. However do you really live with that mindset?  Once you’ve made something a priority making the choice to stick with it is the key. In this case we have a few choices to make.

One thing I heard yesterday:

A primary choice, like deciding to be healthy has a secondary choice that supports it. Like exercising everyday. The secondary choice is the action that is required to support the primary choice.

Consider this when you make choices about your lifestyle. There are two to be made. A primary choice and a secondary choice that supports it. It will require discipline in order to stay consistent with your secondary choice.

The Power of Discipline

Once you’ve made ________ a priority, discipline yourself to make the right choices every day.

A secondary choice is otherwise called a habit.

Discipline is the stuff that separates those who do and those who don’t. Those who end up with the results they desire and those who don’t.

As I was listening to Jeff Olson who wrote the book The Slight Edge yesterday live in Orlando and he put it so well:

  1. Show Up
  2. Be Consistent
  3. Do It With A Good Attitude

When you can commit to your secondary choice with those 3 things in mind you’ll supersede well over 70% of everyone else in your endeavors.

So what have you made a priority in your life today based on your experiences and is there anything you can do differently?

What else would you add to this list of insights?
